The Community Space is a centralized location where resources for service and volunteer opportunities can be provided. These opportunities are available for students and student groups with or without prior experience in service. That means, if you have never participated in service events, we are more than happy to help guide you through the process of getting started. If you have prior experience with service and volunteering but would like to expand your participation further, this is a great opportunity to brainstorm and establish new relationships with community partners.
To get started, we encourage you to begin by setting an advising appointment. Volunteer advising appointments consist of a one on one meeting with our Volunteer Manager, Leslie, within her advising hours in the Community Space where the office is located. Through this session, students will be able to express special interests in service opportunities, discuss the means of service, and get connected with community partners and non-profit organizations. In discussing local volunteer and service, we would like to take account your schedule, interests, and any other factors to ensure you enjoy such opportunities and feel supported as an avid servant leader.
Below are the weekly volunteer advising hours, when the academic year is in session:
- Tuesday: 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm
- Wednesday: 10:00 am - 11:00 am & 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
- Thursday: 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Walk - ins are welcomed if no appointment is in session, feel free to check with our student employees at the Community Space desk in 145 IMU when you first swipe in.
